The era commonly known as the Divided Kingdom, spanning the Old Testament books of I and II Kings, is one of the most challenging narrative sections in the Bible. It is a blazing fast survey of centuries of Israelite history when most kings lead the people into idolatry, God’s prophets roar courageously but are often persecuted, and the people of both Judah and Israel slowly drown in a sea of immorality and corrupt worship. It is a painful chapter in the Bible’s record and one filled with insights for those who would cling to God in sincere faith. This survey will be conducted in sequence on Sundays and Wednesdays.
